3 Reasons You Can Count On Us

Deployment Is Quick & Simple

In stark contrast to other backup clients that require a 3-day training course before you can even do an install. The IDrive® e2 Cloud Backup Software Client is simple to use. We focus on using technology to make things easier for you at every turn. We call this feature the “zero-config install” which means that most of the installation and tuning choices are built into the installer and client, so you can simply install, register the new account, and choose additional data to backup.

fully encrypted data and regulatory compliant data storage

Fully Encrypted & Regulatory Compliant

The WholesaleBackup IDrive® e2 Cloud Backup Software Client has been designed for demanding online backup deployments including environments subject to complex regulatory compliance such as Financial services: NASD 3010 and 3110, SEC 17a-3 & 17a-4, GLBA, Health care: HIPAA, Public Law 104-191, Publicly traded companies: Sarbanes-Oxley 802(a)(1) & 802(a)(2), NASD 3510, 3520, and All companies: PCI DSS (credit-card protection). This offers you much more coverage and flexibility when it comes to offering your backup services to organizations with strict compliance requirements.

Fast & Simple Data Recovery

When you need to restore data you can select from a particular timeframe. The restorable data can be targeted from when it was last backed up or modified, as well as from before or after the specified date. The IDrive® e2 Cloud Backup Software Client provides the option to restore every version of the file, allowing you to filter and target more granularly if needed. Easily point to the location where you want the data to be restored to with a click. If a local backup vault has been enabled the client will try to restore from the local backup folder first, and if it can’t find a file, it will pull it down from a remote server. If multiple computers are backing up to the same backup account, then you can pull down backup histories for every computer, and specify which computer’s backup you would like to restore data from.

Incremental Block-Level Backup Technology

The IDrive e2 Cloud Backup Software Client uses a block-level backup engine and performs lightning-fast file and system scanning. Data is encrypted using AES-256 block encryption, and broken up into 1MB blocks. When data changes are detected only changed blocks need to be transferred to the backup server/cloud storage and only one copy of each block needs to be kept (thus the blocks are de-duplicated) The block-level backup engine can be triggered to run using scheduled or continuous backup modes; in addition, you can remotely trigger backups at any time from your web console.

Intelligent Differential Versioning Technology

The IDrive® e2 Cloud Backup Software Client easily processes large files, such as SQL databases, virtual machines, disk images, and system state backups. The intelligent rolling differential versioning technology handles identifying and flagging the changed data blocks for the block-level engine to process. Drastically increasing the speed and precision of the overall backup process.

Fault-Tolerant Data Vaults

The backup software offers the ability for on-prem and off-prem backup vaults, which allows for redundant fault-tolerant data recovery. If possible data will be recovered from the local vault first, otherwise it will pull data from the offsite vault. The backup software offers the ability to configure additional auxiliary offsite vaults if needed.

Streamlined configuration and deployment

Ability to pre-configure settings, and selections, and automate installs silently in the background. Running the installation takes only a few seconds if you need to make one-off selections or settings you can do it quickly and easily through the backup software client’s graphical user interface that runs through a web browser.

IDrive® e2 Cloud Backup Software Client Features

Streamlined Bare Metal Recovery for critical systems

The enhanced Bare Metal Restore feature transforms disaster recovery with direct streaming of complete disk images, eliminating the need for local storage during the restoration process. Powered by our advanced differential algorithm that delivers exceptional accuracy on large files like SQL databases and VHDX disk images, the BMR process achieves significant deduplication savings while reducing backup windows. MSPs and IT professionals can now execute full system recoveries through our custom Windows Preinstall Environment, using secure 24-hour restore codes generated directly from the Remote Manager. This advancement dramatically simplifies the BMR workflow while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability, complementing our Physical Drive restoration and AWS S3 recovery capabilities for comprehensive disaster recovery options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. You choose the storage region when you provision your IDrive e2 bucket, and IDrive e2 operates data centers across multiple regions in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. That lets you keep customer data in a specific jurisdiction to meet data-residency requirements. Whichever region you choose, follow the universal rule: keep version history, run periodic test restores, and maintain a 3-2-1 backup posture so a single storage incident is never a single point of failure.

Yes. The backup client encrypts data with AES-256 and breaks it into 1MB blocks before anything leaves the customer’s machine, so data is encrypted in transit and at rest in your IDrive e2 bucket, and the encryption keys stay on your side. This client-side encryption model supports retention requirements under HIPAA, PCI DSS, SEC, SOX, and GLBA. IDrive e2 buckets also support Object Lock at the storage layer for write-once-read-many retention if you want an added safeguard against tampering.

No. IDrive e2 does not charge separate egress, ingress, or API-request fees within a generous monthly download allowance, so customer restores rarely cost you anything extra. That allowance sits well above what a backup workload ever restores, since you store far more than you recover. Compare that to a single 1TB disaster-recovery restore, which runs roughly $92 in egress on some other big name providers, billed to you. Predictable restore cost is a real margin advantage.

IDrive e2 sits in the lowest-cost tier of object storage, with published rates well under a cent per GB per month. That is a fraction of AWS S3’s roughly $0.023/GB. You buy that storage wholesale and bill customers under your own brand, retention tiers, and pricing, so the spread between IDrive e2’s cost and your client pricing is your margin. WholesaleBackup adds no platform-level egress fee or storage markup, which means your backend choice determines your margin, not a vendor’s price list.

Yes. You create your own IDrive e2 account, provision a bucket, and generate an access key and secret. Because IDrive e2 speaks the standard S3 API, the WholesaleBackup Server connects to it the same way it connects to any S3-compatible backend: you supply the endpoint, region, bucket, and credentials, with no proprietary connector or plugin to install. Nothing locks you in. If a client’s needs change, you can point the vault at a different backend.

IDrive e2 is S3-compatible cloud object storage that acts as the offsite storage backend for your WholesaleBackup Server. When you run the server, its storage vault is backed by an IDrive e2 bucket you own, so every backup your branded client sends offsite lands in storage under your account, not a vendor’s. You get eleven-nines-class durability without hyperscaler pricing, and because you hold the storage account directly, there is no per-GB markup between you and your customers.
